Saxophonist since the age of 8 years, Samy Thiébault follows a classic route within the CNR of Bordeaux before bringing in in 2004 in prestigious Higher National Conservatory for Music of Paris in the class of jazz.
At the same time as his musical studies he obtains a master's degree in philosophy in Sorbonne ( 2001 ). He brings out his first opus "Blues For Nel" ( Musicast) in 2004. The album is worth to him a frank public and critical success. In June 2007, he presents his second album in quintet "Gaya Scienza" (B Flat / Discograph, on 2007). The group conquers then a wide public and benefits fa high critical support: 4 stars Jazzman, Selection of the Libération, newspaper, Top 5 of the best albums jazz and World on 2007 according to Les Inrockuptibles, album of the week and playlist on FIP, playlist on the radio TSF...
The orchestra of this " Coltranien in the best sense of the term " (the New Observer) present in November, 2010 his last project: "Upanishad Experiences", suite of compositions for eleven musicians among the best of the young relief guard and freely inspired by texts of Nietzsche and by Baudelaire. On this album, the actor Jackie Berroyer comes to lend his voice with the talent which we know him on some brief passages where the poetry is put in echo in the music. Besides its widely spiritual inspiration, this record has for main requirement to guard the concern of swing and generosity, trying to put in osmosis the wealth of the writing, the freedom of the improvisers, the sound of a close orchestra and mystic evoked by the used poems.
Samy Thiébault writes regularly for the theater and the cinema: for the Festival of Avignon 2009 with the piece of Matei Visniec " The story of the bears Pandas ", for Edouard Tissot's movie " In its absence " (in October, 2010), and for the movie of Yvon Marciano "Live ! " (September, 2009).
Samy Thiébault elaborated its own label, " Gaya Music Production", structures who claims as an artistic collective of the young guarding of the French jazz and on whom he takes out his third album, "Samy Thiébault Upanishad Experiences".
